Celebrate Griffith Observatory's 75th Birthday!

Griffith Observatory, the landmark featured in a number of scenes in the James Dean film "Rebel Without a Cause," will be a hot spot on May 15th in celebration of the observatory's 75th birthday.
The event called, Cosmic Conjunction 2010: Diamond Nights *Northern Lights supports "Friends Of The Observatory's" efforts to fund 3000 school children visits to Griffith Observatory. The observatory, located in Los Angeles, makes a connection between astronomy and the arts.
Some of the night's events include honoring LA Opera's Ring Festival LA with a new live planetarium performance of "Light of the Valkyries", live music by Wagner's Ring Cycle, and gourmet cuisine by Wolfgang Puck.
James Dean fans can even journey near the west side of the grounds to see a bust of James Dean that has appeared in several movies and television shows.
